A Challenge for the bards of Meridies
from Lord Cianán Carmichael!
As the Marshal in Charge of the recent Panhandle Skirmishes, I would like to thank the great people of Meridies who traveled to the southern regions of our great kingdom to face the forces of our southern friends of Trimaris! There were many hard fought battles and victories won by both sides!

For those in attendance, there was one battle that stands forefront in my memory in which our Queen was captured by the opposing forces as she held her ground as the last Meridian warrior standing despite overwhelming odds by the Trimarian host! As their forces overwhelmed her with the intent of capturing her and seeking her ransom, she displayed the heart of Meridian spirit by refusing to yield and even fighting back despite being surrounded by her captors. At the end of her most noble stand, the Trimarian host were forced to end her noble stand when it became evident that she would refuse to accept defeat under the most extreme of circumstances!

And here finally lies my challenge! I would call upon the good bards of our fair kingdom to immortalize the valiant actions of our most valiant Queen in song or prose so that her great valiance might live on in perpetuity throughout the ages! I would like to propose that there be a performance of these bardic endeavors at Midwinter A&S to reward the bard that best captures the noble efforts of our Monarch!

View from the Martial in charge at Panhandle Skirmishes

Before the skirmish, I was approached by His Majesty Sir Krotuas that his intent in the following fight would be to send a specialized force out with the express purpose of capturing her majesty and taking her for ransom. His intent was that the marshals understood that her Majesty was in no express danger if she was overwhelmed by his forces.

The battle was arranged so that the forces of Meridies were to overtake the forces of Trimeris at the breach of the fort.

Trimeris defended their hold valiently as the forces of Meridies threw the force of their strength into the breach time and again. Ultimately the bridge leading into the breach was held by Her Majesty and the few sparse nobles of her guard. As the last of this guard fell, Her Majesty held her ground on the breach and refused to yield.

His Majesty Krotuas called for his special force come forward to capture the Queen.

In the onrush of her foes she took a wound to the leg that forced her to fall to her knees and was surrounded by the Trimarian force.

Surrounded by her foes and on her knees she was held in her defense against the force sent out to capture her. His Majesty Krotuas approached and yelled. "Your Majesty, do you yield?"

To which, Her Majesty yelled, "NO!"

His majesty Krotuas yelled once again, "Your Majesty,... YIELD!"

And once again the response was "No!"

His Majesty of Trimaris, impressed with her desire to hold her position (in my humble opinion) said "Your Majesty, I wish to take you for ransom!"

And from my perspective on the sideline, amongst the throng of Trimarian warriors surrounding her I herd her yell, "Meridians do not yield!"

His Majesty of Trimeris defeated, he turned his back to her and spoke his final words.

"Kill her"

And Her Majesty was slain in the spot where she refused to yield.
